University Library
The Library plays an important role in supporting the academic program of the university. It is an integral part of the educational process in the University Campus. It is established immediately after the establishment of the University in 1989. High quality technical education calls for its well stocked and staff library with efficient and effective information retrieval system within the reach of all concern. The Library helps the teachers, students, researcher to explore updated and latest information related to their field of interest. It also helps them to get information through different media that can be useful for them for writing their research paper, dissertation thesis etc. The existing library occupies an area of 21000 square feet on the ground floor of the main university building. The library is having open access. It has rich collection of 1,03,384 books. The Library collection includes Textbooks, Reference books, Handbooks, Encyclopedias, Back volume of periodicals. Collected works of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, Mahatma Gandhi and other important personalities are also available in library, Light reading magazine, Novels and Story books in Hindi, Marathi, English literature etc are also available. Apart from the books, Library subscribe Indian and foreign journals/Periodicals and Newspaper. The entire library book collection is classified according to the DDC. (Dewey decimal classification). The library is partially computerized with the help of LIBMAN (Library Software).The circulation transaction, Barcode generation, No dues certificates, Reminder etc. work will carried out with the help of this software. The library has Open Access. i.e. Readers are free to move into the stack for browsing and selecting any desired items. Recently library has been started digital library service. Users can use it anywhere and anytime through the Digital Library platform and the mLibrary mobile application.

- To serve as a knowledge hub for the university in particular and for society in general
- To inculcate reading habits among the students, supporting staff, and teaching community
- To develop, organize, provide access to and preserve materials to meet the needs of present and future generations of students and scholars
- The library aims to become a model library
- The library intends to incorporate the latest technologies and adopt a user-friendly approach towards students, supporting staff, faculty, as well as external readers
- The library intends to offer comprehensive services related to the dissemination of knowledge
Mission:
- To develop a comprehensive collection of books and journals useful for students, supporting staff and faculty of the university and affiliated colleges and provide an efficient dissemination of knowledge
- To provide Right Information to the Right Users at the Right Time and in the Right Format and to bring People and Information together
- The mission is to provide users with the information they need to achieve their highest academic potential and help them acquire research skills necessary for lifelong learning
As per Section 78 (2) of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University Act No. (Maharashtra Act No. XXIX of 2014), the following Library Committee has been constituted with effect from June 30, 2022, for a period of three years to administer, organize, develop, and maintain the library:

The DBATU Library acts as a knowledge hub for the university. Students and faculty’s information needs are fulfilled through the library. The University Library provides various services for both the teaching and student communities to help them in their academic endeavours. The succeeding section of this report discussed various library services that are being provided for the students and teaching community at the DBATU.
- Circulation Service for Students and Faculty:
The circulation service is one of the most important services that any library should provide in order to satisfy the information needs of its users. In an academic library environment, circulation service is one of the key functions. That too, in a university library, largely students depend on the library for borrowing books. DBATU is a state technical university. It is in a rural area. This makes the circulation service even more important from the users perspective since many of them come from agricultural and underprivileged sections of society. The Library issued 8407 books during the reporting year. On average, every month, 700 lending transactions (issue/return) would be made through the library. Library is partially automated with the help of LIBMAN software developed by Masters Computer. All the issue and return transactions of the Library and Book bank are completely computerized. We are at the DBATU library, following the functions.
- Lending library books to the students and teaching staff
- Returns and reservations of library books
- No-dues and clearance certificates are given to the students and staff
- Safeguarding library books from mutilation and damage
- Assisting students and the teaching community at the circulation desk
- Lending Service at the DBATU Library:
The lending service is given only to faculty, research scholars, staff, and students who are registered in the university library. Registered users can borrow the following number of books, and later they can renew library books. If the due date expires per book per day, one rupee will be charged to borrowers. The overdue amount will be collected online through SBI Collect. The University Library does not accept cash payments.The lending service details at the DBATU Library is as follows:

- Reference Service for Students and Faculty:
The Library has maintained a separate reference section. The books in these sections are to be consulted in the library. However, keeping in view the necessity of the teaching faculty, these books may be allowed to be issued for a short period of time. Important encyclopedias, handbooks, data books, dictionaries, and other costly documents are available in this section. Special reading facilities (Cubical) for research students and teachers are provided in the library. The library has procured educational video cassettes prepared by IITs and other agencies for self-learning. The viewing facility is available in the library. Around 27 course materials in various disciplines are available for reference. The library has a seating capacity of 300 users at a time. The University Library provides internet facilities to all its users for searching online journals and other documents. Separate WI-FI facilities in the library have been provided for the readers. The total number of books available in the reference section is 6883.
- Open Access System:
The University Library provides an open access system for students. Students, faculty members, and external readers can access the library openly. There is no limit for access.
- Library Computerization (Automation):
Library automation is the use of data processing machines (computers) to carry out traditional library activities such as acquisitions, cataloguing, circulation, serial control, and other library related activities.
Regarding computerization of library services, the University Library has been partially automated with the help of LIBMAN software developed by Masters Computer since June 2011. All the work related to circulation, acquisitions, cataloguing, stock verification of books, and new member registration has been computerized. Most of the books are barcoded, and automation is partially done. All the issue and return transactions of the library and book bank are completely computerized.

LIBMAN Software Interface of the University Library
- Web OPAC:
The University Library has its own OPAC. This can be operated within the campus premises by clicking on http://dbatulibrary/webopac or http://172.16.5.238/webopac. Besides listing all the books available in the library, it allows facilities like new arrivals, reissue/renewal of books, reservations, overdue calculations, the status of particular books, particular students, and new member registration. It is searchable by author, title, accession number, and several other fields.

- Book Exhibitions:
Libraries play an important role in cultivating reading habits through various means. One of the easiest and best ways is to organize book exhibitions. A book exhibition attracts students in large numbers and allows them to skim books of their choice. This kind of space encourages them to be selective in their choices and encourages book reading. The benefits of organizing book exhibitions at the library are many. Students and faculty can purchase books at a discount; there will be books of their choice; they will get the opportunity to see a good number of various kinds of books; they will have gatherings with friends; and many more things.

- Resource Generation:
The photocopying centre in the library is operated on the basis of outsourcing. The library is charging monthly rent for the same. Similarly, the library is charging 15% of the cost of the books for book bank issues to generate the fund.
- New Arrival Books:
The University Library displays new arrivals as and when new books are procured for the library. There is a separate display rack in the library to display new arrivals. With them, users can check online through OPAC. Library users are allowed to browse these books and borrow them.
- Suggestion Box:
The Library has put in place a suggestion box to receive feedback and suggestions from both faculty and students. The librarian used to interact with students regarding library services and other information requirements. Whenever students recommended any facility for the library, we took immediate measures to procure it. Now we have a formal suggestion box to receive student and faculty feedback.
- CCTV:
The Library has an open-access facility. For the safety of the library collection, equipment, and other important materials, the entire library is covered with CCTV cameras. In the library, a total of 16 CCTV cameras are installed.
